Your One Stop for Community Conservation

We’re excited to introduce “Connected by Nature” — A One Stop Place for Community Conservation across in Te Tauihu.

For a long time, community conservation groups have asked for a central place where they can connect, share stories, attract volunteers, and highlight the incredible mahi happening across our region. So, we’re excited to share that Connected by Nature is now live!

Developed by TET in partnership with Eat My Carbon, and made possible thanks to support from the Nelson Regional Development Agency and the Annie Currie Foundation, Connected by Nature is a brand new website that celebrates and supports community conservation across Nelson Tasman.

Whether you’re a trapper, planter, weeder, or waterway warrior — this site’s for you.

Connected by Nature is a website to discover and connect with community led conservation projects in our region. It’s designed for locals and visitors alike — making it easier than ever to find out about the good mahi happening in this special place and ways to get involved.

Each project listed has its own profile, complete with:

  • A short description of the work
  • Photos and contact details
  • Volunteer opportunities and upcoming events
  • A way for people to donate directly to that group

It’s about raising the profile of the wonderful work that community groups are doing — and helping those projects get more support to grow.

Why is this important?

We know there’s momentum out there — from locals and visitors — to give back and support environmental efforts. Until now, there hasn’t been a clear and easy way for people to find out how.

Connected by Nature changes that.

By bringing everything together in one easy-to-navigate place, we can highlight the huge impact our region’s conservation groups are having — and make it easier for people to get involved, whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word.

Good to know:

  • It’s free. TET is covering the cost for groups to be listed.
  • You’re in control. You can update your page, add events, share photos, and manage your own community project listing.
  • It’s inclusive. You don’t have to be a TET-supported project — any organised community conservation group in Nelson Tasman is welcome.
  • It supports donations. Thanks to Eat My Carbon, people can donate directly to your project.

Who’s it for?

The site is for community-led conservation projects across Nelson and Tasman. That includes groups working in:

  • Predator control
  • Native planting
  • Weed eradication
  • Catchment restoration

We’re not listing private landowners working alone, but if you’re a community group caring for a privately owned site, you’re welcome.
