Rabbit Island South Coast

Come and join us for a community planting event on the Waimea Inlet.

Battle for the Banded Rail has a planting day this Sunday 12th September, 9am – 1pm on Rabbit Island’s South Coast.  Please park at 98 Ken Beck Drive, on the right, just over the Rough Island to Rabbit Island bridge, then follow the orange cones around the coast.   Please note, the venue for this planting has changed – was previously advertised as Hunter Brown Reserve.

We will be observing level 2 protocols.  Planters must sign/scan in, and remain 2m from those outside their bubbles at all times.  Mask wearing is encouraged.  Morning tea will be provided, but level 2 guidelines will mean groups must stay in their bubbles, be seated (or stand 2m+ from others without mingling), and wait for drinks and a pre-packaged snack to be delivered.

Please bring gardening gloves, sturdy shoes/boots, a narrow-bladed spade if you have one, and drinking water.   All volunteers are welcome and there are jobs other than digging.

We’ll go ahead unless it’s raining hard or stormy.    If you don’t get an email by 8:00 on Sunday morning, we’re already there setting up ????.

Please keep an eye on this page or https://www.facebook.com/TasmanEnvironmentalTrust/ for more details as COVID alert levels will determine whether the event takes place.
