Come and explore one of the Nelson region’s hidden gems! Kelly’s Conservation Forest is opening to the public for a special afternoon to celebrate two exciting milestones:

This stunning native bush has been formally invited to become a QEII Open Space Covenant—making it one of the very few areas in Aotearoa protected by both QEII and DOC. And their wetland has also received official recognition, helping safeguard it for the future.

Wander through more than 15 hectares of protected forest and wetland trails—Nelson’s largest conservation area on private land. Grab a trail map and check out:

  • This year’s freshly planted natives 🌿
  • A fun orienteering course for tamariki 🧭
  • Wētā boxes and insect villages 🐜
  • Picnic spots with beautiful views 🧺
  • A small sales/donation table (bring a few coins)

Come rain or shine—the forest is waiting. Bring your friends, whānau, and a picnic, and help celebrate this special place and the people protecting it. We can’t wait to see you there!
